Visa
Before you arrive
Students who are non-EU nationals and have been accepted to exchange study stay at TBU in Zlín must apply for a long-term residence permit (for the whole year) or a visa (for the semester). Current conditions and requirements are available online at the following links:
Applicants must apply at the pre-defined diplomatic mission of the Czech Republic based on:
- A country that issued you with a travel document or which you are a national.
- In a state in which you have been granted a long-term or permanent residence permit and have been legally residing there continuously for at least 2 years (third-country nationals living in the EU, can apply only in the Dresden visa centre).
- At any of the Czech Republic’s diplomatic missions if you are a national of one of these countries.
The Czech Republic does not have a diplomatic representation in every country. Some diplomatic missions of the Czech Republic represent the Czech Republic in more states. Information about territorial districts can be found here.
Students with citizenship of EU countries (plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland) are exempt from visa requirements.
Extending your visa
You can extend your visa in Zlín without having to leave the Czech Republic. Students are entitled to apply for an extension of a long-term visa or a long-term residence permit, on condition that their purpose of stay remains the same, at the earliest 90 days and the latest 14 days before the period of the permitted stay on the territory of the Czech Republic expires.
A long-term residence permit issued for study at a university can be extended repeatedly. It can be extended for a maximum period of two years each time.
