Cyber Incident Reporting

A cyber security incident is a breach of information security in the information systems of TBU or a breach of the security of services or the security and integrity of TBU electronic communication networks, which is in conflict with the Rector’s Directive No. 1/2016, and is in clear contradiction with the purpose for which they have been established. This may include, for example, hacking and unauthorized scanning, or hacking and misusing of information system components, unauthorized access to information system resources, intentional or unconscious distribution of malicious code (malware), distribution of unsolicited messages, fraudulent (phishing) activities, or any other active or passive wiretapping (observing and recording of network traffic).

An incident may also refer to a reasonable suspicion that such an incident may have occurred. In practice, this may include, for example:

  • unauthorized access to another person’s account, whether to his/her PC, server or the Internet,
  • infected webpage,
  • malware (infected computer),
  • identity theft,
  • abuse of your data,
  • DDoS attack (attempts to disrupt or disable services on the Internet),
  • phishing (scam e-mail), spam (besides correctly detected spam in the normal range), etc.,
  • spying.

Form of reporting

Security incidents shall be reported preferably by e-mail to abuse@utb.cz. Each report should include a detailed description of the problem.

The report should be brief, concise and understandable. It should state whether this is just a notification/warning (no response required) or whether you expect a response (explanation and additional information).

Please include the following information in your report:

  • your contact details – (e-mail, telephone, room, employee ID number),
  • description of the security incident,
  • type of incident (if you can identify it),
  • specify whether it is a website, computer, server, what type of operating system it uses, etc.,
  • specify the affected device/service (domain name, IP address, MAC address, port),
  • if possible, enclose attachment to the report (e.g. suspicious original e-mail including the complete header, screenshots, link to the fraudulent/infected website, antivirus/firewall logs, etc.).
