TBU’s Gala Evening Honours the Finest Students and Sportspeople
20. April 2023Tomas Bata University, in cooperation with the Student Union, holds an annual event to honour the achievements of the best TBU students, this year being no different. The Gala took place on 11 April in the Rectorate building, where eight students were conferred awards. The selection process involved the management boards of the various faculties, fellow students and staff.
The venue of this year’s Gala Evening was the atrium of the Rectorate building, and a fancy red carpet was rolled out for the occasion. In addition to the awards ceremony, a rich cultural programme was put on for guests. It started off with a performance by the FREE DANCE Prostějov dance studio. A graduate of the University, singer Ivo Blahounek, also featured, captivating the audience with a love song he had written called “Never”.
Iva Stoličková, the manager of the TBU Gala Evening 2023, commented: “Students and employees were able to nominate someone for an award. Three categories of prizes were set – the best students at the faculties, the finest athlete and sports team, and the most outstanding student at the University.”
Who got to walk the red carpet, then? The winners in the faculties category were Adam Ondriaš (FaME), Michaela Holíková (FHS), Dalibor Malý (FLCM), David Sedlář (FAI), Jiří Navrátil (FT) and Aneta Zelenková (FMC).
In the special category of athlete, the winner was selected by the TBU’s Department of Physical Training. The award went to Barbora Macurová (FHS), who is keen on running, especially long distances such as half marathons.
The final prize was for the best student at the University, and the recipient was FaME student Adam Ondriaš, who devotes his leisure time to working with international students through the Erasmus Student Network of Zlín (ESN). He believes his work helps promote diversity and multiculturalism at the University.
So, congratulations to the winners! Everyone is already looking forward to the occasion next year, since students are the reason all of us are here at the University.
