TBU Student Iva Kavánková Took Part in Prestigious Orienteering Competitions

Recently, a PhD student from the Faculty of Applied Informatics at Tomas Bata University in Zlín put in excellent performance at two prestigious university competitions in orienteering. The young promising athlete not only represented our University, but also achieved outstanding results and strengthened her motivation for future competitions.

European University Orienteering Championship 2023 in St. Gallen

At the European University Orienteering Championship 2023 hosted by the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, Iva Kavánková participated in three races. The first event was a sprint race in the historic centre of St. Gallen, where qualifying runs took place first, with Iva advancing to the final round. In a difficult race, she took 38th place. The second event was a short track in the Alpine forest near the town of Gais, where she finished in an excellent 24th place.

Academic Orienteering Championship of the Czech Republic in Olomouc

Afterwards, Iva participated in the Academic Championship of the Czech Republic in orienteering, which was part of the Czech Athletic Games 2023 taking place in Olomouc. She had entered two events – the first one was a sprint race around the Little Prince Park in Olomouc, where she took 7th place. The second one was a short track near the village of Velký Újezd, where she finished in an excellent 2nd place.

These accomplishments achieved on the international and national level are an example of the talent and determination of students of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Their sports performances and achievements contribute to a positive image of the University both among the academic community and among the general public.
