TBU Received Subsidy Aimed to Support Education from the Zlín Regional Authority

Thanks to the cooperation between Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU) and the Zlín Regional Authority, both institutions want to attract to the Zlín Region researchers and PhD students in fields crucial for the development and advancement of the region. The Regional Council decided to provide a subsidy in the total amount of CZK 30 million to TBU for the period 2023-2025.

“I greatly appreciate this considerable financial support from the Zlín Regional Authority, which will help in particular to support postdoctoral positions at relevant component parts of TBU, and to support young, talented students studying in doctoral programmes. The funding will also be used to develop and support some projects such as the Zlin Design Week, ROSTEM and others. I am glad that, together with the Management Board of the Zlín Regional Authority, we are looking for ways to gradually fulfil the vision and strategy for the development of the Zlín Region. Education is extremely important for the development of the region, and I am delighted to receive such support from the Zlín Regional Authority,” said Prof. Milan Adámek, Rector of TBU.

“If we want our region to keep up with the times and keep moving forward, it is necessary to find highly qualified staff for the companies that operate here, as well as for the public sector administration and healthcare. This will not be possible without the involvement of new academics in teaching, research and development. And precisely Tomas Bata University in Zlín is our key partner in this, as it provides professional education in a number of important fields,” said Governor Radim Holiš.

TBU intends to use the main part of the subsidy granted by the Zlín Regional Authority to pay financial contributions to PhD students and postdocs who will participate in activities aimed to make research and teaching at TBU more attractive. “At the same time, our goal is not just to motivate our experts to stay at the University, but, above all, to recruit new qualified experts from other parts of the Czech Republic and from other countries,” said Deputy Governor David Vychytil.
