
TBU International Board Meeting
7. February 2025On 5 February 2025, a meeting of the International Board of Tomas Bata University took place at TBU in Zlín.
The Rector of the University, Prof. Milan Adámek, presented the agenda, the mission of the Board and provided information about TBU. This was followed by the presentation of the decrees and the appointment of the Chairman of the International Board of TBU, Tone Lehrer, and the Vice-Chairman, José Machado. Key topics of the meeting included the strategic aims of the University, the quality of teaching, research development and internationalisation. The discussion focused on student numbers, the issue of tuition fees and the possibility of expanding the number of Bachelor’s programmes taught in English. “Support for academics to publish in prestigious scientific journals and research development strategies were also discussed. The meeting provided valuable suggestions for the further development of the University and strengthened its international cooperation,” added Prof. Milan Adámek, TBU Rector.
The International Board is an advisory body of the Rector. The Board’s task is to increase the international prestige of TBU in Zlín and to help it to improve the quality of its scientific and educational work so that it can achieve even greater success in national and international rankings and confirm its role as an internationally recognized university that also contributes significantly to the development of the Zlín region. That is why distinguished personalities working at high-quality foreign universities have been appointed to the International Board. The members of the International Board are renowned academic and research workers with broad international experience and high moral integrity, who have been working outside the Czech Republic for a long time. Members of the International Board are appointed by the Rector upon a proposal from the Faculties for a term of 5 years.
