Sustainability in the Development Project for 2022
4. January 2022TBU and other 23 universities in the Czech Republic have decided to join the project entitled “University Leaders in SDG” (Sustainable Development Goals) for 2022. The aim of the project is to strengthen the role of the university as an effective and responsible public institution within sustainable development.
The outputs of the project will find application with the university management, and will also help upgrade and further develop partnership with other entities (e.g. ministries, regions, cities or partners from the private sector).
In order to support the implementation of the SDG and to protect our society and the environment, activists from 24 public higher education institutions have joined their efforts to identify a mutually beneficial aim to proceed in a coordinated manner with regard to the fulfilling of the SDG, share their experience, exchange available and effective domestic and foreign good practice and gradually form a set of recommendations for a transparent and measurable progress towards the set goals.
A total of 10 key spheres of resources for a change in the area of operational aspects have been selected:
- Strategy, strategic partnerships and structure for sustainability
- Prevention and recycling of waste
- Management of water, rain and grey water
- Catering
- Energetic management
- Green construction
- Sustainable IT infrastructure, computerization
- Sustainable mobility of the university students and staff
- Responsible purchasing – public tenders
- Biodiversity
The project will have impact on a number of areas of life at the university, including support for the involvement of students in the planning and implementation of the measures adopted and, in addition to direct applicability for the management of the universities, it will also prepare supporting documents for the possible creation and updating of strategic documents.
