New Dean to Lead the Faculty of Management and Economics
30. January 2024The Faculty of Management and Economics (FaME) of Tomas Bata University in Zlín will be headed by a new Dean, namely doc. Ing. Michal Pilík, Ph.D., current Vice-Dean for Pedagogical Activities and Lifelong Learning.
Michal Pilík was elected unanimously in the first round by the Academic Senate of the FaME for the period 2024 – 2028. He will take up the office after Prof. Ing. David Tuček, Ph.D., who has been heading the Faculty for eight years. Assoc. Prof. Pilík will be appointed by Prof. Milan Adámek, TBU Rector, and will assume the office of Dean in April 2024.
The future Dean plans, among other things, to support fellow academics to carry out high quality teaching, to encourage their personal and professional development, to support cooperation between departments, and also promises to support all students while maintaining high standards and delivering high-quality courses. In addition, he sees an opportunity for change in the increase in the number of students in follow-up Master’s programmes.
Forty-five-year-old Michal Pilík, a graduate of Economics and Management at the FaME of TBU in Zlín, has been employed at the Faculty since 2003, first as Lecturer, Senior Lecture, later as Secretary to the Faculty and then as Vice-Dean for Pedagogical Activities and Lifelong Learning. He has also been holding the office of Deputy Dean for the last 8 years. His specialization is management and marketing. He also graduated in Pedagogy, Teacher Training and Social Work at the Faculty of Humanities (FHS) of TBU. In 2007, he was awarded the degree of “PhD” at the FaME, and was appointed Associate Professor in Economics and Management at the same Faculty in 2015. In addition to his teaching activities, he has acted as the principal investigator of a number of projects and is a member of several specialist councils.
