Women in Science & Research: Voices from Far That Bring Strength and Overcoming

The event aims to give voice to women who come from outside the European Union and work in science and research, sharing their stories of struggle and success. Stories of women from different continents will be presented, bringing the perspective of immigrants who have chosen (or not) to live in the EU, whether for a short time or to set up their lives here forever.

Apart from everything, one of the main objectives is to break existing stereotypes about what it means to be an immigrant and to bring to light some important topics, such as structural racism in the world of research and work and sisterhood among women. The event will be held in English, free of charge and online, with the aim of providing access to everyone. It is worth mentioning that the talks are intended for people who are interested in the topic, regardless of gender. Students, teachers, researchers, and the general public are all invited.

The webinar originated as an idea of Dr. Eva Ferreira, a Brazilian researcher at Tomas Bata University, Czech Republic, and MBA advisor at University of São Paulo, Brazil, who has been living in Europe for six years, working as a consultant/researcher/lecturer in Czechia, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia and The Netherlands, in addition to having visited 27 countries on four different continents.

The 1st Webinar – Women in Science & Research: Voices from Far That Bring Strength and Overcoming will take place online on 11 February 2025, at 9:30am (Prague time).
