Institute of Lifelong Learning at Tomas Bata University in Zlín
The mission of the Institute of Lifelong Learning at Tomas Bata University in Zlín (ILL TBU) is to be an information, communication and coordination platform for the systematic creation, providing and development of lifelong learning programmes (hereinafter referred to as “LLP”) at TBU in Zlín.
The Institute of Lifelong Learning coordinate lifelong learning at TBU and provides, in particular, methodological support in the development and implementation of lifelong learning programmes and internationally recognised programmes and their quality assessment at the level of TBU and its units. In doing so, it also ensures the development of strategic cooperation with other external partners in the field of lifelong learning, including at international level.
In its activities, the ILL TBU rely on the Lifelong Learning Strategy of Tomas Bata University in Zlín for the period 21+.
Lifelong learning
Lifelong learning (LLL) means those types of learning that enable participants to acquire knowledge, to deepen, renew or extend knowledge, skills, qualifications and competence to perform a specialised activity. Education in the LLP does not confer on participants the legal status of a student under Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education.
- Programmes within accredited study programmes (where successful graduates of this programme, if they become TBU students, may be recognised for credits they have earned in the LLP up to 60 % of the credits required for proper graduation);
- Programmes for the acquisition of professional qualifications pursuant to Section 22(1)(b) of Act No 563/2004 Coll., on Teaching Staff and Amendments to Certain Acts, and programmes in the further education of teaching staff pursuant to Decree No 317/2005 Coll., on Further Education of Teaching Staff, Accreditation Commission and Career System, as amended;
- Programmes to acquire, deepen, extend or change qualifications (up-skilling or re-skilling courses);
- Programmes in leisure education.

Lifelong learning regulations
The preparation, implementation and evaluation of lifelong learning programmes are regulated by the internal regulations of the Lifelong Learning Regulations of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, in accordance with Section 60(1) of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on Higher Education and on Amendments and Supplements to Other Acts (hereinafter referred to as the Higher Education Act), as amended.
