Successful Professorial Appointment Procedures
16. November 2023On Tuesday, 14 November, two professorial appointment procedures were held at the meeting of the Scientific Board of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, both with a successful outcome.
Assoc. Prof. Ing. Marek Kubalčík, Ph.D. was born in Zlín on 11 April 1970. After graduating from grammar school, he studied at the Zlín-based Faculty of Technology of the Brno University of Technology, where he graduated in Automation and Control Engineering in Consumer Industry in 1993. In 2000, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis and was awarded the degree of Ph.D. in Technical Cybernetics at the Brno University of Technology. Between 1993 and 2007 he worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Technology of the Brno University of Technology. In 2007, he obtained the degree of Associate Professor in the field of Machine and Process Control, and since 2008, he has been working as Associate Professor at the Department of Process Control of the Faculty of Applied Informatics of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. His professional focus in research and teaching is on process control and system identification. From 2014 to 2023, he held the office of Vice-Dean for International Relations at the Faculty of Applied Informatics of Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Since 2023 he has been holding the post of Vice-Rector for Internationalization at TBU in Zlín. During the professorial appointment procedure held in front of the TBU Scientific Board, he delivered the summary of his qualifying lectures for professorship on the subject of “Selected Advanced Methods of Process Control” and responded to the questions asked and comments made.
Assoc. Prof. Ing. Tomáš Sedláček, Ph.D. was born in Prostějov on 4 August 1977. He obtained his Master’s degree and his Ph.D. degree at the Faculty of Technology of Tomas Bata University in Zlín in 2001 and 2004 respectively. In 2001, he took up employment with the Faculty of Technology of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, where, since the very beginning, he has been actively involved both in teaching and in the development of cooperation between the academic and industrial sphere. Since 2011, as the Head of the Polymer Processing research team, he has been actively involved in research activities of the Centre of Polymer Systems of the University Institute. In 2014, he obtained the degree of Associate Professor in the field of Technology of Macromolecular Compounds. From 2016 to 2020, as the Head of the Department of Polymer Engineering of the Faculty of Technology, he was strongly supporting the development of teaching in courses related to the plastics industry and offered at the Faculty of Technology. As regards his professional activities, he has been focusing on modification of plastics, processing and characterization of polymer materials in the long term. During the professorial appointment procedure held in front of the TBU Scientific Board, he delivered the summary of his qualifying lectures for professorial appointment on the subject of “Preparation, Characterization and Processing of Plastics for Applications of the Future” and responded to the questions asked and comments made.
